to spark early reading success in children aged 2.5 to 6 years.

Phonics
At Walnut, our Phonics Program is designed to spark early reading success in children aged 2.5 to 6 years. Phonics is the art and science of sound recognition—a proven method that teaches children to decode, blend, and read words with confidence and clarity. Through fun-filled, interactive sessions, children learn the relationship between letters and their sounds, empowering them to read independently, pronounce accurately, and develop strong language foundations. With play-based techniques, colorful visuals, and engaging storytelling, our phonics sessions turn reading into an exciting adventure—laying the groundwork for lifelong literacy and communication skills.

History of Phonics
Phonics traces its roots back to the early days of alphabet-based languages. As far back as ancient Greece and Rome, educators understood that teaching the relationship between letters and sounds helped children learn to read effectively.
In the 18th and 19th centuries, phonics became a structured method in Europe and America, especially with the spread of mass education. Schools began using phonics-based primers to teach children how to sound out words, focusing on spelling and pronunciation.
However, in the mid-20th century, a debate began between phonics and the “whole language” approach, which emphasized recognizing entire words by sight. By the 1990s, extensive research confirmed that phonics was essential for developing strong early reading skills, especially in English—a language with complex spelling rules.
Today, phonics is widely accepted around the world as a fundamental method for teaching young learners to read. At Walnut Excellence Education, we bring this time-tested approach to life through interactive, play-based learning, ensuring children not only learn to read—but love to read.

Ananya's Mother
Hello Everyone, As someone who never developed a habit of reading, I always hoped my child would grow up to love books. When Ananya was just 3 years old, I discovered Walnut and decided to enroll her. From that early age, we made it a routine to read books together before bedtime. Now, she’s a true bookworm! She never misses her nightly reading, and it’s made a remarkable difference in her language skills and thoro with phonics sound . I’m so grateful to Jalpa mam for fostering this love of reading with right pronounciation in her!
